March 19th 2024. Tues, Day 26. 85 km. Binh Chau (idyllic) to Vung Tau City Sun Hill hotel

Best chicken in Vietnam yet! Great meal with an interested couple from their roadside cafe. Google translate can be amazing fun with such amiable & sensitive people.

A pleasant ride south, a short day too down to the ferry area at the very trendy bubbling Vung Tau (like Thanh Hoa but without the class) where I will meet up with the Canadian couple Anita and Randy plus my ex neighbour Nic from the steep hillside in Talisay, Cebu.

Homestay was brand new and immaculate and what a friendly welcome. My host Mr Hung took me on a tour of the local fishing village harbour and lovely sandy swimming beach – he was obviously very proud of it

The boat taxi ladies were able to move their boats around with their feet whilst chatting and eating. Such foot dexterity.

A nice quiet coastal ride today, arrived early thanks to the magnificant tail wind. Anita & Randy already here, resting up before meeting their son in SGN then flying back to the snow and blizzards in Canada.

Ever wonder why there are so many broken shells on the sea shore?

The foot dexterity of these women was amazing

Randy told me that safe ice has a hole down the middle – I eat all ice and perhaps shouldn’t but his argument held true when looking at the really big ice cubes.

I visited many Highland cafes – cheers NIc could not find you but at least I found some east west brewery IPA.

Anita recommended a great hotel with a refridgerator – a no brainer at that price and a balcony with a great view. The blurb said sound proofed walls that was not the case thanks to the screamer next door. Nic is about to set off on a motor bike to tour the whole of Thighland. A pleasant but late night in Ned Kelly expat bar. Randy managed 1.5 burgers and two buckets of beer!!
