Dragon fruit, sand, swim, lighthouse, camels and ostrich.
Awful ride from Hom Ron to Ke Ga. Mostly built up tin sheds and resorts with the occasional view of the ocean but a fine tail wind. Once we’d got passed Movenpiks enormous hotel the views opened up, white, yellow and red sand dunes of epic proportions loomed out. Eventually, after a rocky outcrop there was the light house in the distance.

This is Dragon fruit country and in Phan Thiet their main round about had a huge one as a display.

After Phan Thiet I took a short cut. The green wooded country road fizzled out its difficult to read the map in such bright sun, turned around and went up a little lane that turned into blistering hot, sandy rubbish strewn scrubland. Then back on tarmac and along the coast again

On arrival at Ke Ga fishing village I was of course seeking cold bia, not the tepid cats piss poured over an ice cube into a warm glass either. Salutations – at the southern edge of town. three guys shouted for me to join them after I’d established the beer’s temperature. Typical of VN, these shrimp fishermen, working a long way from home offered to share their food and would not let me pay for any drinks at all.

Giang flew in to SGN and is taxied east to meet up at Lala Chill in Ke Gas.
